Essentials of a Profitable AdWords Campaign
A profitable AdWords campaign depends on a lot of factors. It is not as simple as one may think. The key to its success is writing a good advertisement - one that will arouse the interest of readers enough for them to click on the link and buy the product. This is not easy, as the ads must conform to the various rules and standards set by Google and the other major search engines.
Before beginning to write an advertisement, it is advisable to observe and study first the numerous sponsored advertisements already found on the web. Choose the one that catches your interest most. Other people will mostly likely find them interesting as well and get a lot of traffic. Refer to them from time to time as you create your own ad.
When writing the actual ad, remember to strictly follow Google's rules or those of the search engine you are using; otherwise, your ads will not be accepted. Google AdWords, in particular, only allows 25 characters for headlines and 35 characters for the succeeding 2 lines. Therefore, you must put a lot of thought on what words to use. Select words that will have instant impact on readers. Also, superlatives in ads are not permitted unless they are actually true. Describing the merchandise you are promoting as "the best..." is not allowed, save if there are facts that support them.
Headlines should contain keywords that people will most likely use when searching for things they like to get from the web. Google will have them printed in bold letters, so searchers easily notice them. The general rule is that advertisements are considered effective when they appeal to people's emotions and desires. People's buying habits are not based on logic; rather, these are based on what appeals to them. The words must create instant positive impact on readers, enough to motivate them to click on the ad. In the succeeding line right after the headline, tell people in the most powerful terms possible what benefits they will get from the product.
Another thing about the ad is that it should reflect what potential customers will find on the product homepage or landing page or else, visitors just might leave the site altogether. Generating lots of traffic is only the initial step. What is important is translating them into actual buys.
You should test the ability of your ads to generate the interest of the public. Google offers two different ads. You can experiment with the wordings of headlines and succeeding lines in the each type, observing what combinations generates the best responses.
Follow these tips and you will have a profitable AdWords campaign and have some fun as well.
